Quebecers opened their televisions to watch The Bye Bye, La Voix and Céline Dion this year. This is one of the top 50 shows in the last 12 months.
With nearly 4 million viewers (and a market share of 88 %), Bye Bye 2015 is at the top of the charts, covering the period from 14 December 2015 to 11 December 2016. Radio-Canada’s end-of-the-year comic magazine outperformed TVA’s two singing competitions: La Voix (2,595,000) and La Voix Junior (2,310,000).
Not surprisingly, the chart is dominated by two networks: TVA and Radio-Canada. TVA’s programs occupy 31 of the 50 positions. Those of the public broadcaster monopolize the rest of the echelons.
While the title of the most watched gala usually goes to the Gala Artis, this year it is the one of the Olivier who wins the Palme. Thanks to the scandal surrounding the censorship of the issue of Mike Ward and Guy Nantel, the awards ceremony piqued the curiosity of 2,113,000 viewers in May.
Unit 9 remains the favorite fiction series of Quebecers with 2,064,000 faithful (compared to 2,064,000 in 2015).
Céline Dion continues to be popular with TV, as she is at the heart of three special programs that stand out in the rankings, according to carat’s senior media advisor, Claudia Massé. Her big interview with Marie-Claude Barrette, Céline maintenance (16e), captivated 1,435,000 people, her unlimited access (18e) was followed by 1,387,000 fans and her life from the universe (21e) entertained 1,344,000 fans.
On the sports side, the Montreal Canadiens have failed to reach the playoffs, Michel Therrien’s men’s games disappear from the top 50. With an average of 649,000 fans, the 21 Habs games offered at TVA Sports appear in 140th position, just ahead of the 56 games presented at RDS (average of 640,000).
